Official recognition of your competence
What does a passed telc exam give you?
The telc certificate (The European Language Certificates) is aligned with Council of Europe CEFR standards and is firmly grounded in Polish law.
EU Long-Term Resident Card
The key to permanent residence in Poland.
Under the MSWiA regulation, a telc certificate at B1 or higher is an officially recognised document confirming Polish language proficiency, required for an EU long-term resident permit. The most reliable path to stabilising your legal status in Poland.
Studies & Doctoral Degrees
Education without language barriers.
A B2 certificate opens the doors to studying in Polish at prestigious universities. It exempts you from entrance language exams and obligatory language courses. In doctoral proceedings it serves as formal confirmation of language competency required by law.
IT & Corporate Sector (BPO/SSC)
Higher earnings and career advancement.
Poland is Europe's hub for modern business services. For HR departments at companies such as Google, Amazon or investment banks, the telc certificate is hard proof of your proficiency, often the basis for language bonuses and a requirement for leadership positions.
Medical & Care Sector
The right to practise your profession.
For doctors, nurses and medical staff from abroad, the telc B2 certificate is a key step in the diploma nostrification process and obtaining the right to practise in Poland. It is recognised by medical chambers as reliable proof of language competency.
Civil Service & Public Administration
Work in public institutions.
telc is listed in the official register of certificates confirming language proficiency in civil service qualification procedures. A prestigious advantage that allows you to apply for stable employment in ministries, tax offices and other public bodies.
International Projects & Engineering
A standard recognised across the European Union.
Through telc's membership of the ALTE association, the certificate is recognised throughout Europe. In construction and engineering it is required in staffing compliance for public tenders and for certification of project managers working on international projects.
Safety net
Dual B1-B2 System
We offer exams in the Dual B1-B2 format, a unique and safe solution for candidates:
- You sit one shared test covering both levels.
- Your score automatically determines whether you receive a B2 or B1 certificate.
- If you aimed for B2 but fall a few points short, you still receive an official B1 certificate, which is sufficient for the EU Long-Term Resident Card.

Exam format
How is the exam structured?
The exam tests four key competencies and is split into two parts held on the same day.

Listening
Understanding radio messages, dialogues and public announcements.
Writing
Writing a short functional text (e.g. an email with a query or complaint).

Important: when telc is NOT sufficient
The telc B1-B2 certificate is ideal for the EU Long-Term Resident Card, studies and employment. However, for Polish citizenship, some Regional Offices (Urzędy Wojewódzkie) still require exclusively the certificate from the Państwowa Komisja Poświadczania Znajomości Języka Polskiego. Check current requirements at your local office before enrolling.
