HUMANITARIAN AND ENVIRONMENTAL CATASTROPHE
A gigantic ecological catastrophe is the result of the blowing up of the Kachovka dam. Dead animals, washed out cemeteries, garbage dumps, items from the street, yards, stores, mines, windows, doors, furniture, etc. are flowing into the Black Sea. The water carries everything it has taken from flooded areas straight to the mouth of the river to the Black Sea. Pollution in large quantities has already flowed to the shores of Odessa, and it is now only a matter of time until it appears at the shores of Romania and later Bulgaria, which borders Ukraine. The direction of coastal currents from the mouth of the Dnepr-Buzka flows toward Odessa, Romania, Bulgaria and Turkey, so the consequences of this disaster will be felt by all Black Sea countries.
GETTING READY TO GO
In cooperation with Romanian and Ukrainian pro-environmental organizations, we are monitoring the state of pollution of the Black Sea shores, preparing to begin cleanup work – fishing out and removing from the shores what has polluted the Black Sea as a result of the floods.
We are diligently gathering equipment (ropes, transport trucks, bags, protective clothing, etc.), and arranging pick-ups of collected waste. Logistics and proper preparation are key, due to the many risks.

Our organization provides assistance on many levels. We work on the ground in Poland supporting the adaptation of refugees, conducting educational activities for children and adults, solving the most difficult problems of people in an extremely bad situation. Unfortunately, the disaster that occurred took everyone by surprise – there was no way to budget for the rescue of the Black Sea coast. Nevertheless, we will not remain indifferent to this tragedy – we are going to remove the consequences – we are giving hands to work, help us to properly equip ourselves to be safe in these extremely difficult conditions.
